Wall surrounding San Juan

We walked down to the Wall, which surrounds that side of the island. It was built back in the 1700’s to keep the Europeans from attacking. The “Door of San Juan” is the entryway through the bottom of the wall. At the base the wall must have been 20 feet thick, and at the top it was at least 12 feet thick. At all the corners and edges are little stone towers where the guards could keep watch. When we left the port last night and circled around Puerto Rico, we could see the wall stretch for miles and miles. It is amazing to see how well it has been maintained for these past 250+ years.
